Welder - Vines and Stream

Welder is the moniker of Brendan Angelides [a.k.a. Eskmo] out of San Francisco, California, used as an outlet for his Downtempo / IDM projects.

About a month ago, Brendan passed me his debut 12 track downtempo album, Vines and Stream, and I've been rinsing the shit out of it ever since. It has quickly become a seasonal favorite, as the vibes surrounding it are so rich and uplifting, it's a warm welcomed soundtrack to the days of spring. Stand out tracks include the opener 'Rain', 'And We're Dying', 'Isle Of Skye' and the massive hypnotic roller, 'Purple and Orange'.

Strongly recommend this one if you're a fan of the genre.

New Delhi FM

Over the last week I came across this brilliant artist New Delhi FM out of Cologne, Germany. Now I've always been a huge fan of German producers, with the likes of Phace, Kabuki, T.G.M., Misanthrop, Simon V and the brothers, Nphect and Diz:play, constantly polluting my airwaves since I got involved with dnb. [ when I say polluting, I mean it in a good way :) ]

So to come across this guy who creates some phenomenal abstract soundscapes that fall in line with some of the stunning German producers I am so fond of..I was hooked. He has 2 albums out, surprisingly available for free, 'Daylight Confusion', which i can't stop listening to atm, and 'Far From Yesterday' which, unfortunately, I haven't been able to get into because of the forementioned statement. :)

Anyways, strongly recommend checking the albums, you won't be disappointed.

Fanu Samuari - Focussed Mind LP

It looks like the long awaited, highly acclaimed downtempo album from the Finnish drum assassin, Fanu, is finally about to see the light of day. Promo's of the CD album are scheduled to release December 1st, the album will also available for purchase through iTunes on that date aswell. Preview audio clips below. Exciting stuff!

Quadra - Based On A True Story

Marc Soo and Matt Cox originally started out on the journey to explore the vast pallete of music and what became of an experiment led to a discovery that is finally being published for the world to see. I've had an advanced copy for a while now and i must say it is every bit of amazing as one could expect. Brilliant downtempo tracks with soothing strings and keys, add in some essential deep rolling basslines and the album is just a thing of beauty. Strongly recommended.


Dont forget to checks the CBC archive of their live preformance from November 2004. I was fortunate to catch it live while it was streaming and the beats just took off. Total journey off into the deep end.
