Chook & Phace - FF014

Finished the press write last night for ZeroOneFour on Full Force, featuring Chook and Phace. Brother Radic threw it up on a couple of forums, so it goes live here too! Have a looksee..

Full Force Recordings is proud to present a collaboration of collosal proportions featuring the mighty talents of label boss Chook and the German space punks, Phace. High quality production and phenomenal audio engineering has quickly become the standard at FF and 014 follows suit in the form of two extra large cyber funk rollers. In the grand scheme of things, this release puts a final stamp and seal of approval on an epic year at Full Force Recordings.

Frozen
A chilling introduction gives way to dreamy sedative state where slippery funk grooves trip back and forth coating airwaves with thick honey-like sweetness (makes you crave delicious!). Senses shiver feverishly in a hypnotic gaze and bones bounce like bowling balls on trampolines as this track flexes hard and rolls deep into the midnight light.

Forward into the ominous setting, tension fills the air as the script unfolds. True to form, Chook and Phace combine some of their darkest funk breaks with their signature style of space age progression, adding key sci-fi stabs, haunting atmospherics and a rugged bassline one has come to expect from these masters of nueropunk.

Bursting onto the scene like an unsuspecting SWAT raid, Misha unleashes a fury of vigor and havoc in his destructive debut, 'Bugs 2 Sequel'. The Stateside Maryland native caused quite a stir online last year, when the early stages of the 'Bug' morphosis were first exposed. Forum heads were calling for it's immediate release and the word was now out on this new aged mad scientist. The final to his epic experiment has spawned a creation of dark defiant vibes, full of rugged, chugging bassline-midline combos and tense skin crawling synths. This is the kind of debut knockout that leaves a bold impression in your memory and a permanent indent on your skull!

Nphonix - Ephyra [Dose Remix]
New Zealand has quickly become dnb's 'next' breeding pool, spawning some of the most technical and forward thinking producers in the game today. Christchurch native, Dose, steps in on the remix tip to take the 'Ephyra' vessel on a deeper journey into another celestial dimension. Adding key atmospheric elements, running drum lines and a larger, warmer bassline, the tune has undoubtedly received a significant upgrade from the Nphonix original to become an instant floor friendly, funk heavy beat!

Chook - Trainpsot [Misanthrop Remix] German powerhouse, Misanthrop, steps up for his first contribution to the Full Force stable with a masterful remix of Chook's sinister roller, 'Trainspot'. Flexing his signature style of high voltage funk and chest rupturing bass, Misanthrop adds another layer to the legend in this "can't miss, must have" remix classic. Once again, Full Force proves to be one of the most respected outlets in the game for pure quality in future funk beats.

Chook - Sound Of Time Hazy eyes awake to a dark, mysterious setting. Suspense lingers as the introduction begins. The invasion of static mutates the airwaves, opposing a major threat to recovery. Sharp, skin cutting percussion sets the senses on high alert, preparing the body for the breaks. Thick, grungy midlines shiver feverishly in cold textures, while an edgy rolling bassline coats the walls of the sound chamber. The white noise regains control of the vessel, paralyzing all running systems and thus forbidding any chance of outside contact. The signal is set, the fate is sealed. The rugged, minimal funk pollutes another mind and executes it's venomous destiny.

Full Force Write Ups

Finished up the press for the next 2 releases on Full Force Recordings. Originally pegged to be the imprint's first EP, it has been split into two 12'' singles. A sad fact as it would have been a nice mark in the catalogue (to celebrate the label's 10th release with a stormin EP like this one) but alas, shops and distributors do have a say in the matter. So two singles up next, and a substitution (plus massive addition!) to the flip of 011. Not sure I can announce details at this time, but it might slip out sooner than later.

Mayhem & Phace - Love Sex Pain
A space age intro with an aggressively uncomfortable atmosphere starts things off, setting the stage for what will become a bad trip to the moon.When that skin crawling mid line drops, the descent into the filth begins. Hard, relentless pressure, face grinding beats and twisted ideas, rock the speaker box til only splinters and cones are left. As the grime chugs along, knock off warped notes concuss reality and remind you of your twisted journey (just in case you might have forgot) Take it down to the break, the pause, the melt. The brain is on overload and the sludge begins to drain. But not for long, as you're forcefully thrust head first into the descent again. Like a scum tunnel that gets deeper and darker, straight to the core of the gutter, this is one punishing filth cleansing you'll wish to take again!

State Of Mind - Quantum Leap
Twisted horns lay the foundation with a dream to enter into madness. Over time and creation, a steady influx in basslines, punchy stabs and funky midlines band together as the mighty machine assembles. The drop is almost concealed within the build, a careful constructive design, making the mix ride smooth and effortlessly into the break, which is a "break down" in itself. Seems the machine malfunctioned and deconstructed it's own circuitry. With time ticking and the unknown lurking, your attention is then surprisingly commanded. The horns revive, summoning life to the beast as the Resurrection initiates. Ultimately setting the stage for jump to begin again, as the drums key the lift, the the funk snaps back and rolls on. Forward, into the future.

So yeah, unfortunately for Nate, his scheduled vinyl debut has been bumped and will now be an mp3 release only. Look for it on Beatport in the next month or so.

Aqua-tek - Shades Of Orange
A warm, delectable intro leads in with elegant atmospheric harmonies, easing the senses for the awakening. Like the anticipation of sunrise on the horizon, color is eminent. A devilish bassline appears and warps maliciously inside itself before the synths screech in to distort, exposing a bold, radiant vision of the future. Tidy drum lines, warped bass and scorched midlines, embrace the essence of the color and set off an auditory onslaught that affects nations worldwide. Deep progression and uplifting vibes own the airwaves, as 'Shades Of Orange' proves to be both a dynamic and stunning debut from this future production force, Aqua-tek.

New Addition

Great news today and I'm happy to report, after a nice chat with Mr. Chook this morning, I will be writing the press releases for Full Force Recordings, starting with that massive EP at 010 and beyond. [For audio from the EP, check the Full Force Myspace.]
I've been a fan of this label since it's inception in 2004, so needless to say, I'm very much looking forward to working with the FF team.

The good people at Full Force Recordings have just uploaded their first music video to YouTube. Chook's infectious nuero roller, 'Trainspot' is available now on promo and is sure to sell out fast. Check it!

Over the years, Full Force has become somewhat of a cult classic. Coming from out of nowhere [literally! .. Luxembourg] they have quickly spawned into a 'buy on sight' imprint. Now known for housing some of the best new breakout talents in the game, [relative unknowns to the average fan] these guys are pushing the limits and bending the bar on nuerofunk and tech. They are set to celebrate their 10th release with a massive Ep including the likes of State Of Mind, Mayhem, Phace, Aqua-tek and Chook. Exciting and inspiring.
