Noisia @ Loaded Review

Noisia played a special last minute gig at Inside last night, put on by the good people from Loaded. A mini tour set up because of a festival booking in Edmonton, Alberta on the 14th, other cities included Los Angeles, Chicago and of course, Toronto. (NICE!)

Anyways, it's been 3 years since Thijs was last here. Back in July of 2004, Earwaks threw a killer jam at Starlight in Waterloo that featured Noisia & Pacific for the first time in Ontario. (Neither were booked in Toronto for that tour) At the time, they were just starting to make a name for themselves and this was their first ever tour on North American soil. (Thijs was djing that tour) Now, as the years have past, they've gone on to achieve massive success and are in constant demand to tour all over the world for one-off gigs and summer festivals. With Martijn already booked in Holland and Hungary for the weekend, Thijs got the call. It was great to see him, catch up on things, share some drinks, and watch him kill it..Toronto dead.

Now let's get into the set. Stepped up about 1am. First 3 tracks sounded like some signature Noisia and Phace collabs along the lines of 'The Feed', baring some strong resemmblences to Tech Itch's Diagnostics LP. Heavy experimental drum and bass, borderline industrial. I was loving it! From there, moved into some hot hits of now, Teebee & Calyx - Confession, Phace - Hot Rock Remix, Spor's Toxic Shock Remix all killed the floor and T and Calyx's Submerged Remix got the rewind! Then into the breaks and the crowd was loving it! Total dancefloor smack job. 'Gutterpump' ' Yellow Brick' 'Lekker' 'Raar' and some sick new Upbeats housey/breaks thing. Slick and slippery grooves! About 20-30 minutes left, started to finish things off with some classic Noisia bits, 'Facade VIP' 'The Tide' 'Subdue' 'Bad Dreams' 'Messiah Remix' and 'Block Control VIP' (Fight Music Intro) all before 'Exodus' brought the house down. FIN. But the crowd called for more and they would not be disappointed. That long lost Noisia Remix of Pendulum's 'Masochist' was the final nail in the coffin and Toronto was layed to rest.

Fuckin baaaaaaaad!

And check this short video recorded half way through the set. No idea on the track ID, but god damn it was sick!

'Outsource' REMIX !?!?!??

Just announced today by the good dutch crew at Syndrome Audio, there is a Misanthrop remix to the massive Noisia & Phace collab that originally came out on Citrus, 'Outsource'. [!!!]
Amazing. The original was such heavy, intoxicating funk roller, I could not wait to hear what the German Bossman had done to it. And you just knew he was going to kill it.
And whadyaknow...SLAUGHTERHOUSE style!

And since I'm writing about the tune, I'll take you back to 2004, when Noisia really started to break out and the OG to 'Outsource' was doing rounds on dub. Teebee came to town, and this was when he first got hooked onto Noisia, so we knew he'd be rockin this. Looking back on the night, (and I feel like an dummy now but,) during his whole set, I.N.I and myself kept yelling in his ear on stage, "Outsource!!" "Outsource!!", in hopes he'd play it for us. lol. No luck, as he actually said to us, "Nah, didn't bring it man."

"WHAT!????" we replied...

Now, Teebee is the man. Hugely respected label boss [Subtitles rules the world] and one of the most coveted big name dj's..and he would only bring out the best! So we were honestly in shock that he did not only not drop this in his set, but that he "didn't bring it". heh.

Retarded I know, but to a couple of beat junkies, was a shocker at time. :P

**edit**
The .mp3 file seems to be streaming funny on here. Not exactly sure whats up, but if track name is clicked on, it will play tune at proper speed in another window.

Noisia Review

What a night! (and a well traveled day aswell.)

Met up with 'The Fuss' about 2pm. Grabbed some grub and coffee's while deciding what to do with the day. Ended up making a trip to Niagra Falls. Marty had never been there and was pschyed to see it, so we headed on down the Q. Ended up hitting some major traffic fuck ups, had to make a couple detours but eventually made it there. Kinda bleh outside when we got there. Grey skys + the misting, but whatevs. We reached.

Had to rip back to Toronto to meet up with Andyslim, Jen, Kace and Marmalade at Everest on Queen for 8, but some torrential rains from out of fucking nowhere slowed the drive waaaaaaaaaay down. i mean, it was regoddamndiculous how hard it was coming down at times :O Anyways, dinner + drinks all good. Headed to Marm's in need of a burner. Jeremy Upbeats had just bounced a new mixdown of a recent collab with Noisia to Marty's email [yousendit link] so that had to be checked, then burned. Then it was off to the club.

Footwork is such a slick venue. Nice layout, real clean, big sound, and cheap drinks! w00t. Mystical Influence opened, wasnt paying to much attention but heard a couple Bad Robot tunes go down. [John Tan wants to know where to apply for a scouting job with the Leafs, so anyone reading this knows who to talk to, or where he can send his resume, hit him up! :P] Marty stepped up at midnight and rocked the party LARGE! Opened with the new Block Control VIP [some hard&heavy guitar riffs and Eminem lyrics]. Other tracks spotted on the night: Omissions [so sick!], Hollywood [Grid & El Hron], Brainstitch (Break Remix) [OMFG so sick!], Destroyed [Audio is really stepping things up this year], Winter War [BSE collab is killer on a system], Hideous [sounded so thick], Exodus [IN-FUCKING-SANE], Breezeblock [such a fresh mash up, styles fo miles.] and ended with the Noisia Masochist Remix [prolly never coming out, but holy shit what a heavy tune] A real treat to hear all those gems in one set. Toronto was in need of something like that, fuck it, I WAS IN NEED OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT. lol. D Syfa closed the night out with some sick older tracks. Hearing 'Back to you' was coo. Oh, and there was a crazy mc battle at the very end of the night..funnyfunnyshit. Marty b2b Illfingaz b2b Toxic. Priceless.

We then headed back to the crew's pad we chilled at on Tuesday night. Good good people. The Chess matches were going down and getting heated, lol Marty cleaned up taking 4 games to none. Time to shut'er down. 5am drive home, felt weird cause thats when I'm heading in to work..gotta love holidays. out.

Exodus

Noisia & Mayhem - 'Exodus'

A small audio snippet is circling the net at the moment. It's another collab effort from the crazy dutchmen and the ATL son. The tune has been ripped from the Renegade Hardware B2B special, Gridlok vs. Noisia set and is not yet finished.
