Covert Operations has an amazing deal going at the moment. For the extreme low price of £1, you can buy the latest installment of the well respected Global Connections series (now on volume 6)!

I shit you not, ASC and the team are selling this album, ten tracks, for 1 British Pound!

Hit the Cov Ops Store and capitalize on this one of a kind deal. Get some and big up ASC!

Solar Empire

With the over abundance of new music circulating my head these days, I almost forgot about the stellar release of Solar Empire's debut album, The Secrets Of Time.

The release of the ASC : Ezeekil collaborative effort has been a long time coming, originally signed 2 years ago to Thermal Recordings, the label encountered numerous distribution problems and ultimately went defunct, so the team at Covert Operations took formidable matters into their own hands and released the damn thing themselves!

This album is pure quality at it's finest. 12 stunning soundscapes drawing on multiple angles of dance floor damage to beard stroking reclinement. This album is an absolute must and available only from the Covert Operations Store.

Covert Operations News

Lotsa good news out of the Cov Ops camp early this week.

Firstly, and most noteworthy, Volume 4 from the now infamous Sci-Files series is out. This edition see's the production machine known as ASC carve your cranium a little deeper with 2 chilling tracks served cold on a block of ice. Check First Snow, paying homage to the film, The Fountain, and Holosphere, an impressive track "detailed and raw with lush minimal atmospheres punctuating throughout". This release is available now exclusively from the Covert Store and everywhere else late August / early September.

Next, the Global Connections series see's the release of Volume 5. Artists on this installment include, Method One, P.B.K., Intersidreal and rising artist Lm 1, plus a load of others. Quality and recommended.

And finally, for the vinyl lovers, COV028 Polar - Sudden Depth b/w Method One - Swing Shift. That's right, Mr. K makes his triumphant return to drum and bass this year with a forthcoming album on Warm Communications and this release on Cov Ops. Buy on sight!

ASC Announces New Album

Big news today on a new album project by the Covert boss, ASC. Forthcoming this September (yes that soon!) on Horizons Music out of the UK, a 6 track triple vinyl + 10 track CD release of the yet to be named drum and bass LP.

Originally signed as a 12'' single (Lightyears b/w Logical Regression) things have rapidly transformed into a full out artist album. Six of the ten tracks are already complete and posted on the myspace as previews. Check 'em out!

This will be the second album of 2008 for James, with the breathtaking ambient techno soundscapes of 'The Aeon Expanse' already released in March under the Mindspan moniker. (I highly recommend picking this up!)

Nothing but sheer brilliance defining cutting edge.

Vegas here I come!

Cov Ops Ltd

Covert Operations are proud to announce their new offshoot, simply titled Cov Ops Ltd, which I'm sure you don't need a masters to realise that it stands for Covert Operations Limited. With the recent problems we ran into with our Limited Edition Vinyl Series, we were left with a few options, one being, scrap the series altogether, another being move all the tunes to CD release only, and the third try and get a distribution deal for a new label to cater for the music we were putting out on this.

So we are pleased to confirm Cov Ops Ltd will be distributed by Nu Urban Music, along side parent label, Covert Operations. We plan to release, in order, the 4 12" singles we had scheduled for our limited edition vinyl series 5, and then more of the quality you have come to expect from us.

So I just finished up the promo write for this release, which means you can look for it in the stores next week or the following week. Click track title for audio.

Covert Operations Limited
CLV001 - ASC
Datastream / Aftershock / Starbeams

Datastream - Heavy steppin intro leads the way to a bridge of a tribal like breaks, combined with an interstellar atmosphere, as only ASC can create. Once it breaks and gets into groove, its guaranteed to get the floor moving and the minds thinking. Brilliant in thought, an epic ambient roller.

Aftershock - Light and steady, giving you a little knock as it drops. Large warming basslines with soothing atmosphere provide the perfect medium. Running glitches add a significant edge to the steppy synths as they fall in line. Always bringing it back to the beautiful atmosphere. Signature staple in the ASC arsenal.

Starbeams - Bouncy uptempo track, its first impression will last a lifetime on dancefloors. Fusing big bounce basslines, waves of clashing synths and intricate tech like attacks, it'll put your senses on high alert and give your reflexes an ultimate test.

COV024

ASC & Mav - Too Deep For Ya / Sceptical [Covert Operations 024]

A. Too Deep For Ya
As the title suggests, this tune takes you on an epic journey into outer space. Setting an instant tone of ambient bliss, it's progression is something to marvel at. Beautiful pads enlighten the mind and prepare the senses for the voyage, with ASC and Mav piloting the vessel, you're in for a smooth ride. Half way into the trip and you're ready for something more. A welcomed encounter of laser-like synths shake things up and get on the funky side, all the while maintaining that key dream-like atmospheric state that has become the signature mark for the two artists.

AA. Sceptical
Intro the mystery, the vast exploration into the sounds of science. ASC & Mav don the lab coats and initiate the experiment to craft a moody intelligent roller. Navigating thick layers of thoughts, rich basslines and waves of funk, these 2 are relentless when it comes to the quest for advancement. Non stop til the formula is complete.

Essential beats from the Covert Operations camp.

This is the next release coming from Cov Ops through Nu-Urban. Test Presses are in and sounding good, so they'll be going to promo any day now!!

ASC Online Home

The old boy has gone and revamped his personal site, and its looking bloody brilliant. A definite bookmark as you're gonna wanna check back and see what he's been up to. One of the most gifted and prolific producers of our generation. His music is timeless and stretches far into so many other dimensions, you never even knew it. So, do yourself a favour, take 5 minutes out of your day and check out the NEW ASC Online Home, you won't regret it. Thank me now. :)

Warm008 - ASC

Finished up the press release write up to Warm008 late last night. I've been stuck on the writing of 'Kismet' for some time now...finally pushed it out of my brain. yay woooooo! Also, if you're viewing this and the month of release on the artwork still reads "March", f.y.i. that is being fixed up at the moment. The pressing plant has been having issues which is why this release has been delayed.

The first plate of the 06 year, Warm Communications delivers a massive single from the master of diversity, ASC. Knowing no boundaries when it comes to creativity, ASC let's loose with 3 very incomparable pieces. Original, inspiring and addictive.

ASC - Resolutions [Remix]
Intro of the calm..(the world is watching and awaits it's fate) Tension builds, forcing barriers to bend (and essentially break), releasing a full on assault and tear out session. A relentless ripper filled with ASC signature style edits and large grungy basslines. Key melodic interludes is something ASC does like no other and it's no diffrent here as the atmosphere is controlled and calmed once again. Yet only for the moment..for the tearer returns upon the second drop to devistate in awe.

ASC - Kismet
Sliding in on smoothness, this cut starts out light and relaxing, then gets with the grit and sharpens up the edge as the track rolls on. Decked out in a dream like setting, it's almost unexpected when the heavy synth comes ripping into frame to darken the mood. Some deep digging material, the devilsh combo of synth lines and eerie pads take the journey to the down to the core.

ASC - Highbrow
A deep slice into the ASC palette reveals this hidden gem. A soothing cut, 'Highbrow' delivers a deep feeling emotion and atmosphere. Defined by the sharp piano break, the track conjures up thoughts of hope and passion, yet brings a melancholy feel to mind at breaks end.

Also, received the artwork for 009 plate [Resound - Spiral Web / Under Ground] last night. Has a large retro feel..vintage, kinda funny, all quality. I'll preview it here in the next couple of days. BIG things for Warm Communications in 2006 and beyond. Some great news to share with all you soon. stay tuned. :)
