Dice-K Mania In Canadia
Daisuke Matsuzaka made his Canadian debut last night at the Rogers Center, and we were there! The place was packed for the Japanese pitching phenom's 3rd start of the year, and he looked extremely impressive downing the first 8 Jays with no problem at all. Yet in the 4th, he struggled with his control and ultimately threw the game away, as his errors cost him and the Sox the game, and gave the Jays the win! Wily Mo Pena scored the only run for the Bo Sox, also was his first HR of the season.
And check out the 'pan' shot (and a Bud Light, lol) of the Rogers Center. [VIDEO]

Let's All Hate Toronto
"If there's one thing that truly unites Canadians it's our national pastime of bashing Toronto. This tongue-in-cheek road doc follows "Mister Toronto" as he embarks on a coast-to-coast "Toronto Appreciation Tour", encountering "recovering Torontonians" and those who would be quite happy never to step foot in our fair city. Are we really Torauma, Onterrible? Yes, according to a "professional Toronto hater." And in Newfoundland they finally discover the answer to a question that has boggled them for ages: Why do all the trees point west? ("Because Toronto sucks that much.") Can the city that the United Nations cited as the world's most culturally diverse, really be that bad? Or is the rest of Canada just a little envious of our obvious superiority among Canada's metropolitan centres? Let's All Hate Toronto gets to the bottom of Toronto resentment and envy." [source]
'Let's All Hate Toronto' premieres next week at the internationally acclaimed Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival

Bobby
Watched Bobby last night. Directed by former 80's "brat pack" member Emilio Estevez, 'Bobby' is a movie about the man, Robert F. Kennedy, and how his dreams and visions inspired a nation and gave wonderous hope to all Americans. Featuring a cast full of huge stars, the story follows multiple characters and their involvement on that fateful day and place, June 6th, 1968 at L.A.'s Ambassador Hotel. Laurence Fishburne is exceptionally good in his role, as is Joshua Jackson. Ashton Kuchar provides some comic relief, as does the young tandem of Shia LaBeouf and Brian Geraghty. [A full day of LSD adventures! LOL!] Not quite sure why it didn't recieve more praise or accolades, but this is one of the best films I've seen over the last year.
Two thumbs up!

Cov Ops Ltd
Covert Operations are proud to announce their new offshoot, simply titled Cov Ops Ltd, which I'm sure you don't need a masters to realise that it stands for Covert Operations Limited. With the recent problems we ran into with our Limited Edition Vinyl Series, we were left with a few options, one being, scrap the series altogether, another being move all the tunes to CD release only, and the third try and get a distribution deal for a new label to cater for the music we were putting out on this.
So we are pleased to confirm Cov Ops Ltd will be distributed by Nu Urban Music, along side parent label, Covert Operations. We plan to release, in order, the 4 12" singles we had scheduled for our limited edition vinyl series 5, and then more of the quality you have come to expect from us.
--
So I just finished up the promo write for this release, which means you can look for it in the stores next week or the following week. Click track title for audio.
Covert Operations Limited
CLV001 - ASC
Datastream / Aftershock / Starbeams
Datastream - Heavy steppin intro leads the way to a bridge of a tribal like breaks, combined with an interstellar atmosphere, as only ASC can create. Once it breaks and gets into groove, its guaranteed to get the floor moving and the minds thinking. Brilliant in thought, an epic ambient roller.
Aftershock - Light and steady, giving you a little knock as it drops. Large warming basslines with soothing atmosphere provide the perfect medium. Running glitches add a significant edge to the steppy synths as they fall in line. Always bringing it back to the beautiful atmosphere. Signature staple in the ASC arsenal.
Starbeams - Bouncy uptempo track, its first impression will last a lifetime on dancefloors. Fusing big bounce basslines, waves of clashing synths and intricate tech like attacks, it'll put your senses on high alert and give your reflexes an ultimate test.

New Delhi FM
Over the last week I came across this brilliant artist New Delhi FM out of Cologne, Germany. Now I've always been a huge fan of German producers, with the likes of Phace, Kabuki, T.G.M., Misanthrop, Simon V and the brothers, Nphect and Diz:play, constantly polluting my airwaves since I got involved with dnb. [ when I say polluting, I mean it in a good way :) ]
So to come across this guy who creates some phenomenal abstract soundscapes that fall in line with some of the stunning German producers I am so fond of..I was hooked. He has 2 albums out, surprisingly available for free, 'Daylight Confusion', which i can't stop listening to atm, and 'Far From Yesterday' which, unfortunately, I haven't been able to get into because of the forementioned statement. :)
Anyways, strongly recommend checking the albums, you won't be disappointed.
