Quadrant - Faithless

My lunches @ work are spent with the ear phones on and music streaming. This track I'm writing about was the object of attention for the whole lunch break today, and any other time within the afternoon that i could inject sound.

If you've never heard it, IT IS ABSOLUTELY EPIC.

Quadrant produced one of the greatest bootlegs ever (imo) and it's unfourtunate but, it will never see a proper release due to copyrights. A sad deal, but understandable. However, it was so generously offered up for free, back in June of last year. The response was overwhelming and definetly appreciated. The boys really turned heads with this track and got a little more deserving notice. So much so, it literally reached around the world to a place of importance and life and death circumstances. Sgt. Chris Cole's inspiring story hits new depths with how this tune connected.

The vocals are from English group, Faithless, the song entitled 'Crazy English Summer' released in 2001, provides the heart and soul to this gem of a track.

"Fields of fire that passed the train
The sky is victorious but here comes the rain
Friday is taking me home again,
And I've nothing but you on my mind.

Grass is greener without the pain,
I think that I'm changing but I'm just the same
My sun is a ascending again
And I've nothing but you on my mind

Sometimes I feel like I'm glad to be free,
Sometimes I still want your arms around me
Sometimes I'm glad to have left you behind,
The Crazy English Summer has put you back on my mind.
Life's a riot a lover a friend,
Pity the day that it has to end
Friday come speed me home again,
I've nothing but you on my Mind.

Sometimes I feel like i'm fine on my own,
Fifty Thousand miles from home.
Sometimes I'm weak and the past is my guide,
Summer returns and puts you back on my mind"

With Dnbnation.com being down at the moment, I've uploaded the file to Sendspace as per request.

Some Thoughts..

Friday finally made it..and not soon enough. I'm beat. Looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend, before it gets really hectic up in heer. Moving next weekend, then a big wedding the following weekend. Just get me through it, so we can chillax.

Some things im looking forward to next week [along with my move :D]...

:The new Jurrasic 5 album 'Feedback' drops next week. There first single features the Dave Mathews Band, titled 'Work It Out'. Sounds pretty smooth from the first couple of listens. Easy to get into. Anyways, I'm lookin forward to grabbing it on Tuesday. You should too.

:The Beastie Boys feature film 'Awesome! I Fucking Shot That' also drops next Tuesday. A quick overview for those who dunno..The Boys handed out 50[!] cameras to their fans at a show in October of 2005 @ MadisonSquareGarden, NYC. They then compiled all the footage into a film and debut it at the Cannes Film Festival and got rave reviews from the critics.

:I have a favorite commercial of now, it's the new NikeBauer 'Earn Your Ice Time' ad. Takes me back to my Rep Hockey days and spending so much time in the summers training off ice, for the winters on ice. It gives me chills watching it. Check the NikeBauer Website to watch. [Click 'Training' when inside..video is on the right side of screen.]

and a couple shouts to some special people i know...
:Firstly, a big congrats to my girl Judy, who got her drivers license on Wednesday. So happy for her. Legally entitled to drive..no more dodging and sneaking. ;p

:Secondly, the Catacomb [andy & larry] are on a plane as i type this, on their way to KansasCity Missouri, to play what im sure will be an maaaaad show. Andy has been there once before and said the vibe is off the hook and add the wild man 'Milo Of KC' and that's a sure fire recipe for insanity. >:)

And finally, a little audio I'd like to point in your direction..

Meet 'Cassius'

So everyone, meet Caissus. Was born exactly 2 weeks ago. Funny story..he arrived on his predicted 'due date' and his mother was in labour for only 2 hours. That's 2 total hours, from arriving at the hospital, to birth of Cassius Ustynsky. This little guy was ready to come out! Big Congrats to one of my best buds from long time back, Teh Daddy Todd. and Moma Tina too. :)

Niagara Fondue!@#$?/??

So the lovely Judy Mac and I decided to get away for the weekend. Much needed in both our cases, so we headed down to Niagara-On-The-Lake. Never been there? Well its a nice little town, in the heart of Niagara's Wine Country. Beautiful scenery, peacefull surroundings, lots of tourists, great wine, and amazing foods! oh and wikked martini's aswell. So we wondered about in the heat, then headed to Tetley's for dinner. This is the only restaurant in NOTL that offers a fondue dinner, and it is every bit of heaven that your tastebuds could fathom. ;p so good!

A short drive away, is infact Niagara Falls. Yes, we hit that up alot. ;p Another gorgeous day spent down there.

Warm Communications NEWS

Heath finally made the announcement that Warm has been snatched up, and is to be distributed from 009 and on, by the good crew @ S.T. Holdings. If you dont know, S.T. is the daddy of all Vinyl Dist. and offers the highest of quality in pressings and packaging and also ships to more locations worldwide. So good! Well done Heath.

So, I recently posted the ASC info [Warm008] on here, and heres the next couple of releases set to go. Warm009 is by Resound, 'Underground' b/w 'Spiral Web'.

"Third time is a charm and comes from none other than the Finnish badman Ilpo Karkkainen or in the drum & bass field Resound. Having already had a couple of vinyl releases with Warm Communications, we think it's time to deliver another slice of unique, underground funk to the masses! Resound has released quite a slew of tracks in the past couple of years, but we feel this 12'' is some of his best work yet & showcases his unique take on drum & bass. 'Underground' starts off with a looped vocal of the title of the track followed quickly by bongos that build and build leaving you waiting for the drop. A start/ stop like amen break crashes through the vocal and bassline going for the jugular. The tune is filled out by a melodic atmosphere that keeps everything together and never leaves you bored. 'Spiral Web' is pure funk that only Resound can bring. A ominous atmosphere opens the track and gets right into it with a steppy break with rolling drums sprinkled on top for added punch. Additional effects perfectly placed atop a super deep bassline that carries the tune up to the breakdown where afterwards, everything gets funky. These 2 tunes definitely showcase Resounds' talent and ability to keep things very interesting while maintaining classy production."

Audio clip

There's that old school art i mentioned before..lol.

The next release inline comes from the original Finnish drum funkster, Fanu. Such fresh drum patterns always comes with the unique styles. a 3 tracker 12'', this release also features a nice downtempo track, 'The Face Of The Man Who Killed You'.
